Arl Van Moore, Jr. MD, Chairman
Dr. Moore is President of Charlotte Radiology in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is past Chairman of the American College of Radiology Board of Chancellors and the immediate past President of the American College of Radiology. He received his BS at the University of Mississippi in Chemical Engineering. He served as a nuclear engineer in the US Navy Nuclear Submarine Service and then went to the University of Arkansas School of Medicine where he received his MD degree. After completing his Radiology residency and fellowship at Duke University Medical Center he remained at Duke on the Radiology Department teaching faculty. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at Duke. He has published several papers and book chapters.
Dr. Moore has been active in the American College of Radiology on both the state and national levels. He has chaired the ACR Task Forces on Disaster Preparedness and International Teleradiology. As a member of the Board of Chancellors he held the office of Secretary Treasurer and Vice-Chairman of the Board. He has served on the Council Steering Committee and has held numerous offices in the North Carolina Chapter of the ACR including President and Councilor. He has also been actively involved in the AMA.
Chad Calendine, MD, Vice Chairman
Dr. Calendine is the President of Advanced Diagnostic Imaging, PC, the President of Premier Radiology, LLC, and the President of Phydata, LLC, located in Nashville, Tennessee. He obtained his medical degree from The University of Tennessee. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Emory University. He subsequently completed his Musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at Emory University as well.
Following training, he and his family moved to Nashville. He remains active in the American College of Radiology, the Radiologic Society of North America, the American Roetgen Ray Society, and the Radiology Business Managers Association.
Ronald J. Ruff, MD, Treasurer
Dr. Ruff is a practicing partner radiologist with Mountain Medical Physician Specialists (MMPS), the largest radiology group based in Utah. Dr. Ruff serves as a member of the Board of Directors of MMPS, Vice President of the group, and as Medical Director of Outpatient Imaging for Mountain Medical Imaging, the wholly owned imaging centers affiliated with MMPS. Dr. Ruff completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1985, a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Emory University in 1986, and has been practicing radiology for 24 years. He is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology with added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Ruff is a member of the American College of Radiology, served as President of the Utah Radiological Society in 1994-1995, as Alternate Councilor to the ACR, Utah Chapter from 1994-1996, as Councilor to the ACR, Utah Chapter, 1997-2002, as Alternate Councilr to the ACR, Utah Chapter 2004-2006, and as Co-Chair of the Western States Caucus , ACR, in 2001-2002. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, The Radiological Society of North America, and the Society of Interventional Radiology.
Currently, Dr. Ruff also serves as Secretary for the University of Utah School of Medicine Alumni Association, and has been a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2003.
Rodney Owen, MD, Secretary
Dr. Owen is co-executive vice president of Southwest Diagnostic Imaging (SDI) a 68 physician group that serves the Phoenix/Scottsdale Arizona metropolitan area. He also serves as the president, and chairman of the board of Scottsdale Medical Imaging Limited (SMIL), a 44 radiologists division of SDI.
Dr. Owen completed his radiology training at the University of Pennsylvania and moved to Scottsdale in 1992 after completing a fellowship in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Dr Owen has served as state chapter president for the Arizona Radiology Society. He current serves on the council steering committee of the national American College of Radiology. His hospital participations include former medical directorship, Information Technology Steering Committee member, and chairman of the Scottsdale Healthcare Quality Resource Management committee.
